Critical Incident Stress Debriefing
To prevent a workplace disaster, a company may utilize a security system, install fire alarms, provide safety training, or offer education on anger management. But the emotional injury that employees suffer when a disaster does occur requires special preparedness.
Avante Behavioral Health Plan's (ABHP) Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is prepared to provide Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) when a stressful event impacts employees in the workplace. Because we our office is in Fresno, we can respond quickly and provide an experienced clinical social worker skilled in handling crises.
Workplace situations that warrant CISD include:
- Robbery or attempted robbery
- Unexpected death by suicide, murder or accident
- Critical injury or illness in an employee
- Disturbing customer interaction
- Accidental fire or arson
- Domestic violence and its spill-over into the workplace
- Illegal activity such as embezzlement or theft
- Sudden and unexpected employee termination
- Major change in company policy or organizational structure
- Natural disaster
- Kidnapping or hostage situation
